LET US REMEMBER

There are nearly 100,000 people buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery. My parents are among them. It is an incredible site to see the thousands of graves covered in American flags each Memorial Day. No matter how many times you see this, the emotion is overwhelming. To think that each flag represents at least one person who served our country reminds us of the meaning of Memorial Day. Not far from my parents, there is a new grave. A Purple Heart and Bronze Star winner. A son, a husband, and a father. He was 25, and was killed in action in Iraq just last month.  

So along with the picnics and BBQ's, let us not forget what Memorial Day is really about. Remembering those who served and gave their lives for us all.

I had just left my house and was driving when I spotted this stunning animal resting in a nearby backyard. Fortunately,  I was going to an outdoor session, so I had my camera next to me. Elk do not visit the neighborhood often - usually just this time of year, but it is always an amazing sight. It is one thing to see them in Rocky Mountain National Park, but in your neighborhood? I love where I live...

Sweet Courchevel, so young and so sweet will be dearly missed...


Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

Sweet little Jacoby came for his newborn pictures. Such a sweet little boy who loved being wrapped up in warm, soft fur. Thank you for bringing him Mikkala and it was so nice to finally meet you! Congratulations on your beautiful boy!

Happy Easter! Sam and I had so much fun taking Easter pictures - he loved me hitting myself in the head with a rubber hammer. Chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs.... Daddy would not let me adopt a real rabbit for the purposes of annual Easter pictures - "not with Scotties."  Good point.

The Beach

A much needed family vacation to California and Disneyland for Sam's 3rd birthday. Sam and Mommy LOVED the beach and building sand castles - what a great time we had playing, photographing and hanging out with Daddy! We want to go back!
