Durango and Silverton

We took some family time and headed down to Durango to ride the steam train. What an amazing ride - so beautiful, you cannot truly capture it. Sam, being our little train buff, thoroughly enjoyed the 8 hour day, and was ready to get right back on. He was not as excited to have to "dress up" while Mommy captured some priceless images. Great memories of a wonderful trip!

MacLeod

Meet MacLeod! What a sweet, furry boy - I wish I could have met him as a puppy! He was so patient and a true gentleman (not mentioning the large deposit he left on the family room floor:). He was great fun to photograph and we got some great images - what an awesome breed!

Hexa

In Memory of Hexa

"She is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. She is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. She has told me a thousand times over that I am her reason for being; by the way she rests against my leg; by the way she thumps her tail at my smallest smile; by the way she shows her hurt when I leave without taking her. (I think it makes her sick with worry when she is not along to care for me). When I am wrong, she is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, she clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, she is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, she ignores it. When I succeed, she brags. Without her, I am only another man. With her, I am all-powerful. She is loyalty itself. She has taught me the meaning of devotion. With her, I know a secret comfort and a private place. She has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. Her head on my knee can heal my human hurts. Her presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. She has promised to wait for me...whenever...wherever - in case I need her. And I expect I will - as I always have. She is just my dog."       Gene Hill

Such a sad day when we say goodbye to another doggie. Hexa was a strong-spirited lady - if she had been human, she would have been the old lady in the nursing home cursing at others who got in her way. She was a beautiful lady with her graying muzzle and made sure we all knew she was in charge. But behind her alpha-dog, was a sweet, warm, beautiful girl. She is happily running on four legs again with her brothers, rolling in the grass and sniffing the air.

Natali!

Lisa brought beautiful Natali for her session - what a pretty girl (but don't get too close :) With Ivy locked away, Natali had a great session! She was better groomed than most humans I photograph :) Such a pretty girl. Thanks for bringing her Lisa - there is nothing like a doggie session to get me excited about photography!

In Memory of Sweet Sunny

To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all. For all the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you... for the care that you gave to me so unselfishly... for all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each other's lives. My life was fuller because you were there -- not as a master, but as my friend.

Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints, no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever. Companions such as you are so rare and unique. Don't hold the love that you have within yourself; give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

(Author: Ken Conover)

I am always deeply saddened when one of the beautiful dogs I have known is gone. Sunny was a sweet and dignified lady. A beautiful girl who will be deeply missed. She will be waiting for you Sue...

Happy 4th of July!

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Wow! These are some great images, and I can say that because they are not mine. Photography is what brought Stuart, my husband, and I together. While he stays away from the portraits, he has always had an amazing eye and great technical skills. These images were taken on a day trip to RMNP and Grand Lake. I do still think I should be able to claim the moose - I found him, it was my camera he snatched from my hands, and it was all my idea! "Fire in the Sky" is awesome! And check out the moose - he just stood up from the marsh when a truck drove by and alarmed him - you can see the water dripping off his right leg. A great day!
